RE: Websites banned by Anderson County
Daco:
Thank you for all your hard work to put the facts straight. I have forwarded to the proper people those instructions to counter the internet czar. What they choose to do with it is up to them. As I read about all this, all I can say is and the plot thickens. Who will call who's hand on the escapades going on in the county mayor's office? The more I read, the more I associate all this with the escapades going on in Knox County. |

RE: Websites banned by Anderson County
All this points to the need to shift the county finance to the 1981 law that Jacket pointed out in another thread. This would put the budget process into the light of day.

RE: Websites banned by Anderson County
It will take 2/3 vote of County Commission.

RE: Websites banned by Anderson County
Some say that may be a problem. My opinion is that those commissioners that vote against giving themselves more control of county operations will have a difficult time explaining themselves.
It's time to clean up the politics in this county. life is good. |

RE: Websites banned by Anderson County
My sources at the county have told me that the act of 1981 has been explored by other commissions but Rex has always made sure there was not a two thirds vote because he did not want to relinquish power. Wonder why? To relinquish would mean he would no longer have control of the budget director and therefore no control of the money.

Not to worry. If she is asked, I'm sure that Terri Frank will take up the banner against banning local websites. Ya think?

RE: Websites banned by Anderson County
Best thing we can do here is contact our commissioners and tell them how dissatisified we are with these practices. Talking and informing is a great but, for one, I intend to contact my commissioners and any other commissioners I come in contact with before the meeting tomorrow. I might even contact my legislatures and let them know what the situation is, and maybe help can come from the capital. I'm sure the state sends funds our way to use appropriately. They might not want to send those funds if they are not being accounted for properly.

RE: Websites banned by Anderson County
Councilperson Ellen Smith, while I almost always disagree with you politically, I do have a great deal of respect for the thought that you obviously put into your decision making. In other words, I believe that you are an honest and sincere person. Having said that, would you be willing to give us your opinion of the ongoing situation with county commission and Gail Cook? If you have one.

RE: Websites banned by Anderson County
I wonder if the County Commission will use their power today and force Ms. Cook to answer the questions they have put to her? Wonder why this is such a big issue and she chooses not to disclose this info? Could it be Beauchamp and Shuey were not the only ones double dipping? Must be a common practice by county employees. There are many ways to double dip. One could be cheating on the time you spend on the job because you have private interests you are involved in. The other of course is being paid out of more than one code. The explanation in the article I read by Ms. Tupper "County Workers paid from multiple codes answers being sought" for Mr. Lynch's secretary is almost laughable.
