Red-light cameras in Oak Ridge?

The article also mentions the possibility of installing speed-monitoring cameras. If O.R. does decide to use those, I think I'll nominate my front yard as the first testing ground.

Here's the link to the City Manager's report (the link in the article doesn't work correctly).

Does the report call for a "Red Light District" for the Red Light Cameras? If so, it needs to be on the West end of town

I'm starting to think you are obsessed with these West End parties. Are your feeling hurt because you are not a participant?

That's a secret unless you have received the personal invitation. Will not let the secret out of the bag.

RE: Red-light cameras in Oak Ridge?
Back to the topic...

I was leaving Staples this afternoon when I heard a horrific screech, and then a crash. As I pulled up to exit the parking lot on the Walgreens side, I saw that a car had been flipped on its side in the middle of the turnpike. A westbound car on the Turnpike hit a car crossing from W. Main to Viking Rd., flipping it. Although I didn't see it happen, the immediate aftermath sure looked like one or the other had run a red light.

I hope no one was hurt... but I have noticed that people are driving more aggressively since the holiday shopping season began. If people can't be civil and responsible, red light cameras may be necessary to protect the innocent AND the guilty.

I think these cameras are a great idea. They're already present at several of the intersections I drive through each day. If you drive legally, you have nothing to fear from them. Driving is a privilege, not a right.

Does anyone have any real numbers to support the idea that installing red light cameras actually decreases the incidence of the light being run? Other than the folks marketing the red light cameras please.

life is good.

Heh, sounds a little like those that aren't hiding anything have nothing to fear from being searched.
