County Employees
I hear that tonight the Operations Committee is supposed to get a report showing which county employees are being paid from multiple sources.

I go in to greater detail about my own feelings on the matter on my blog, http://www.bullmooseblog.blogspot.com, but I have a real problem with this, and wanted to throw it out for some comments.

Personally, I would like to know who is supervising these individuals on their multiple jobs, what hours they are working on each, and exactly what they do. It will be interesting to see if those questions get answered.

It may be on the up and up but, more realistically, I'd say it's a good old fashion case of pocket padding at the expense of the taxpayers.

The good ol' boy system. Yeah, I'd like to see some accountability on that too, man.

You wouldn't happen to have a time and location on that, would you?

Isn't this some form of old news? Do you think anything will be done or proven? I wish my boss would give me two salaries. I could live good.

Bull Moose:

Did you hear what happened at the meeting? The paper did not carry much. Must have ended late.

Just thinkng here. What do you think the job description is to make over $50,000. as an Administrative Assistant to our County Mayor? Wow, must have some real good qualifications to fill that position.

RE: County Employees
I wasn't able to attend, but I did talk to one of the Commissioners on the Operations Committee and it appears that the Budget Director refused to submit a list.

I hear that Commissioners are now going to the department heads for the information, although I think Mrs. Cook and Mayor Lynch should be called on the carpet for once again refusing to release public information.

There was also quite a bit of discussion about the insurance plan for the County as well. It seems that the plan is through Cariten, but managed by Insurance Services Group, who is paid an undisclosed sum of money for "Consultation Services". Because they are paid by Cariten, the exact amount is being withheld, even though Cariten charges the County a "Consulting Fee", which is paid for with...you guessed it...our tax dollars. This is, by the way, the same Insurance Services Group that is owned by major contributers to Mr. Lynch's political campaigns.

Things must really be rotten in ol' Denmark. Let's see if anything is aired out at the Commission meeting on Monday.

RE: County Employees
I have always heard that Ms. Cook feels that she doesn't work for County Commission but rather they work for her. Sounds familiar, doesn't it. That is how all of them down there seem to feel (Rex, Beauchamp, Layton, Cook). What are they afraid of if they aren't doing anything wrong? Turn the records over. Could the Department of Labor, TBI or DA be good ones to contact? What did the County Attorney have to say about this? How is he advising? Does this not fall under the Public Records Act? As far as the insurance is concerned sounds like someone might be doing something wrong and doesn't want to get caught. I also heard that Ms. Cook and Mr. Lynch might be being paid a consultant fee for their expertise in insurance. Could this be double dipping also?

I am curious to see how Mr. Iwanski handles this On Monday. Will our Commission have the same guts as Knox? Let the truth be known unless you have something to hide. Other areas seem to be able to get to the bottom of this alleged inappropriate behavior and clean out the dead fish. We seem to just go on and on and on

RE: County Employees
If it is true that Gail Cook "refused" to submit a list of county employees being paid from multiple codes, to the county commission, why in the word did Leean Tupper not report that in her article on the subject in today's dead tree daily?
http://www.oakridger.com/stories/071107/...0904.shtml

If in fact Ms. Cook refused a legal and reasonable request from county commission, why is she still employeed by the county?

life is good.
