I went to every news sight, cnn, msn, fox, google etc. and got a 46% rating for Pelosi dropped from 55% because of a hit from crazy Limbach. Rush is someone you can trust, wife abuser, doesn't pay child support, adultry do you want the list to continue?
"Dr. Demented (Blah, blah, blah) like Gore and Pelosi (blah, blah, blah) what exactly has Pelowsi done (blah, blah, blah)"

LOL! This can't be the real JM! This has to be a parody! I love it!
"That's nice of them."

I agree.

"Worthy wrote that she is a single parent of two children and does not receive child support, and at times "needed money for things I did not have money for."

Clearly, Bailey recognized that to further punish this woman by fines or jail would only punish her innocent children. Since she confessed and is paying back all the money, the school is made whole and is saved the expense of legal prosecution. She was fired from this position of trust, which means hardship for her in finding another job with a negative employment record. Kudos to Bailey for his compassion.
A typical heartless response. Black and white, yes gray,no. First of all it would cost more to prosecute than was missing and restitution was made and second her kids would be thrown into the foster care system and the taxpayer would have to absorb the burden. Or maybe they could be put with their dead beat dad. No one could ever accuse you of being a bleeding heart. You don't have a compassionate bone in your body. Oh, and now she becomes a statistic in the unemployment category.
It is legally called a 'mitigating' factor. The woman was compelled to provide for her family. Unemployment has nothing to do with it, but employment did JM, it is called 'under' employed. It is difficult for you and AW to get out of that box you think in isn't it?
"And it sends a strong message to other/future employees that there is no risk in stealing and even if they get caught, there will be no criminal consequences which should totally eliminate this from happening again."

ROTFLMAO!!

Here's the message it sends: If you want to steal and then pay back less than $2000 and lose your job, all you have to do is become a single working parent with two children. I'm sure a lot of people will be incentivized by this possibility.

You are such a hoot, AW! You know everything about law enforcement and nothing about justice.

So you know for a fact that she was stealing in order for her family to eat. She doesn't have cable tv and flatscreen, or any other non-necessities? The number of people who are actually stealing in order to eat or provide food for their families is so low it isn't even worth discussing. And, are you arguing that someone who is under-employed has the right to just steal to make up the difference? It is no wonder that crime is on the rise here.

Yes, because a mother of two making that type salary doesn't have the money for those type things. I know several. I don't and I make way more than a clerical person.

Of course you know that she has all that stuff and a Swiss Bank account because you are a double naught spy.

Jed, is AW Jethro in disguise?

"What is really heartless is liberals who make excuses for people who make bad choices and somehow blame us for their mistakes."

Hmm. Haven't met any of those. You and I clearly travel in different circles.

"If you feel this way, you should be using your influence to simply eliminate all those pesky laws and just handle everything administratively."

That's certainly a silly conclusion to reach.

"Example being the 2nd theft out of the clerks office for the county. Do you think the 2nd would have happened if they first had been properly addressed?"

I have no idea, AW. Neither do you. They cut off the hand of thieves in Saudi Arabia. Do you think that there is no theft in Saudi Arabia?
"So why do all of the other people in the same situation not steal?...My mother was in this shape years ago and she didn't steal...

I think anyone could be considered under employed...There are people making lots of money who want more (like Ken Lay)...Was he under employed also or just evil?"

Nobody here is saying that being poor and/or being unemployed *compels* theft. Nobody here is saying that *only* unemployed and/or poor people steal. Nobody here is saying that being poor and/or unemployed *justifies* stealing.

In a civil society is is essential to have laws. In a civil society, it is essential to enforce laws. In a civil society, it is essential to punish those who break laws.

In a just society, it is important to realize that everyone is not alike and that justice is not served by a one-size-fits-all punishment system. I'm proud to be a law-abiding citizen in a nation that at least tries to achieve not only a civil society but also justice.

Because not all people experience the same problems. You have no idea about this woman other that she stole some money. You don't have any idea as to what compelled her to do it. Whatever it was was obviously irrational, she had some support from supervision regarding her job and what was, you know, actually happening in her life. They considered those factors. You have considered none.

Ken Lay was greedy. He got caught and sentenced to prison. I have little sympathy for a rich theif but can consider a mother of two making little or no money when deciding what should happen to her. Sorry you cannot make the distinction.
