BTW, JM. Please point out where I said that criminal's don't know what they are doing. I said they didn't think it out but to determine they could do it on an impulse without getting caught.

Well obviously the two guys in NC thought it out...I would say the guy in Oak Ridge who took the purse didn't think about the ramifications right before he took the purse, but then there really out any serious ramifications for him...

Two cases and you still can't bear out your 90% thinking it out. Best you did was 50%.

It is simply noted that a criminal does not think of the ramifications because they can't identify why they did it (most operate on about a 13 year old mentality), they think they will not get caught.

That is why deterrence is only one factor in deciding how to sentence a convict.

Usually the only people who do questioning like that are working for either defense attorneys, the probation department, or I suppose someone doing a criminal justice research project. I suppose that would explain the affinity and excusing attitude towards criminals . . . .

And the question would be - if you are looking at health, education, etc., you must be doing it to use it to get them a break or otherwise it doesn't matter. These guys are not doing crimes because they don't have a job, or didn't finish school, or because they have bad health. They do it because it is easy money and they don't have to work if they can just steal from others. They have made the rational decision that even if they get caught, there are enough apologists in the system to ensure that they don't do any real time. Other than the meth heads, most everyone we deal with is healthy enough to work (and there are jobs everywhere)- they just choose not to.

The last break-in near me, 2 girls broke into an elderly ladies house and got about $500 cash and a box of rings worth about $50,000. It took less than a couple minutes. How long do you have to work to make that kind of money? If you knew you could make those kind of scores and your chances of getting caught were slim and the chance of getting real time was even slimmer, do you see how that looks attractive?

I guess you would say I do research. Hmmmm?

Those girls didn't "make any money. They obviously got caught. Or you wouldn't know about it.

Education would bear out the mental abilities toward thinking, Health would verify mental status, and employment history would show if they had employable skills.

Are these supposed to make their actions any less criminal?

Uh, no but it does lend a good guide as to what to do with them unlike what AW is ranting about above. Using the above it can deterimine who needs to be where.

His approach is a shotgun approach, with just a warehousing solution that costs thousands of tax dollars w/o accomplishing anything.

You see, when you lock em up, the key does not get thrown away. They get out and unless the problem is addressed through a community release program or a prison program there is no fix. It just puts off the next crime until they are released.

Of course that is what AW likes. He has a vested interest in making new arrests. It keeps him busy.

No, they didn't get caught. I know about it because it was a neighbor.

Then if you know who they are, you are aiding and abetting them. If you are a law enforcement officer you are obligated to go arrest them.

Geez, the VICTIM was my neighbor - trust me if I knew who these girls were I would be on them like a duck on a june bug!

So how do you know they are girls? You have a lead, why not follow it. You are a trained investigator.

The point was that some don't have any problem with our soldiers living in tents for years or not being able to take showers, have hot meals, etc., but they demand better conditions for prisoners.

And

We have soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan that live in tents and have been for many months, sometimes for most of their tours there. Imagine the time it took to fake this video - http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=035_1215378796

It only takes a few seconds into this to see that this is no ordinary tent. Isn't that an air conditioner in the tent wall. And its pretty big too. This seems to be more of a temporary building than what most of us think of when we talk about tents.

"So you don't think that we have any soldiers or locations in Iraq or Afghanistan that are quartered in tents?"

*sigh*

No, AW. I'll try and type slowly so maybe you can understand your confusion.

You posted: "The point was that some don't have any problem with our soldiers living in tents for years . . . "

I posted: "None of our soldiers are living continuously in tents for years."

You posted: "We have soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan that live in tents and have been for many months . . . " And you posted a link showing soldiers in tents for, what, 5-10 minutes.

I posted: "That link doesn't show that soldiers live continuously in tents for years, silly boy."

To which you reply: ""So you don't think that we have any soldiers or locations in Iraq or Afghanistan that are quartered in tents?"

Of course I know our soldiers are quartered in tents, silly. I've stayed in tents too. Many times. Just because I've stayed in a tent and I've been alive for years doesn't mean that I've stayed continuously in tents over that time.

Our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan do stay in tents. Our soldiers are not living in tents for years, which is what you asserted.

"You are so far out of touch it is laughable."

LOL! You are so illiterate it is laughable!

"Have you ever actually talked to a veteran from over there?"

Yes.

"Obviously, they don't literally live continuously in tents" and only a fool would make that interpretation of what I wrote."

Only a fool would write that and then pretend that they didn't.

"They actually leave them to go kill the enemy. Local guys that I spoke with from the 278th were in tents the entire time they were deployed."

And they were deployed continuously, without interruption, for years?

"Of course, you know much more than they do, given your vast military experience in Iraq."

I have as much experience in Iraq as you, yet I obviously know more about the nature of troop deployment than you do.

"You are a piece of work. Not a good piece mind you - but as the quality poster says "No one is useless - you can always serve as a bad example!""

I love it! You whine about personal attacks and then post this!

"I know you probably still think that people in DC could legally have guns for self protection? You do know that the SCOTUS said you were wrong about that don't ya?"

Uh, no. The SCOTUS said that people in DC could legally have guns for self protection. Had I said that people in DC could legally have guns for self protection, the SCOTUS would be confirming my statement.

Man! You can't even make a coherent argument, AW. No wonder you were a failure at engineering!

He also appears to be a failure at law enforcement. He knows girls did a burglary and will not, or cannot follow that lead.

askwhy Wrote:
Your understanding of law enforcement is so dismal, I am not sure I should even respond. We know girls did it because there were a couple of witnesses that saw them park a car and walk to the house. All they had is a rough description of the car and girls. It is being investigated, but that isn't much to go on. Please tell us about all the criminals that you have apprehended - oh that's right you are working to get them out.

Well, I simply thought since you were ubercop, you could get them batman.

Your ability to communicate is rather lacking as documented by Doc. "You said the girls that did this". Which is an indication you knew them.

Your time's a wastin' why you botherin' here. There is crime every where for you to play with.
