Maybe it would be good idea to have a shout box for us to talk to each other when we are online. Just a suggestion. Might make for some good verbal exchanges immediately.
I dunno, my experiences with shoutboxes are that they require a lot of work to keep spam free, and it usually just kinda denegrates eventually into "not much going on here" or "good morning".
Don't you think it is worth a try? Only people registered can use it. Right now friends are on and I would like to be able to hold a discussion with them.
I still think its kinda more of a blog thing. Its hard to enforce (technically) the necessity to be logged in to access the thing, but I'm not really in the know.
Not to be a wet blanket Ernestine, but AT is right. A shoutbox is daily maintenance, even on my little website. It's a pain in the neck, because you will be targeted by morons like the ones we tried to leave behind by moving here.
I have to agree with Daco. I appreciate being able to come here - read, catch up and/or share my point of view. Although I would love to chat back and forth, I enjoy not being hammered unexpectedly by unknowns.

I checked out comments on the other place. I really enjoy this site - there isn't a bunch of finger pointing, name calling, SCREAMING AND YELLING and all the missspellengings (lol) other than just because you're typing too fast to reply.

There's always the PM (private message) way of sending notes back and forth.....
In addition to the spamfighting hassles that AT and Daco have experienced, shoutboxes also carry the liability that unknown readers can copy and paste the text in other venues. It has happened before -- with portions of a chat being posted on that other forum.

After all, we have private messages, we have e-mail, and we all have cell phones. Call me, text me, e-me, but don't shout at me.
