I am saddened by yesterday's news about the members of the church in Knoxville and their terrible loss. I am also angry that a nut job can get a gun at a pawnshop and tear into a church and shoot up the place. The local newspapers and CNN are reporting that he hated the liberal movement, gays, blacks, illegals and anyone who did not think like him and that he was paranoid of the government. Sound familiar? I think our society is losing it's civility and is becoming so factionalized that these unfortunate events are bound to continue.
When you are on the wings things like this happens. Unfortunately we still have many people in this country who think liberals are the cause of the problems with this country. They thump their bibles and kill in the name of Jesus. How sad!!! They think they know Jesus but they have no idea who he truly is. According to the link on hippies Jesus could have been a liberal.
No body said he killed in the name of Jesus. I said we have people in this world who kill in the name of Jesus, I did not say this nut did. This one just hated liberals. We were taking bets as to how long it would take you to post and I lost. I gave you a week but others said it would be right away as you can't help yourself.

PI - Thanks for being big enough to admit your loss. I bought a lottery ticket and you still owe me a cold beer...I'll be over later this week!

On a more serious note regarding this topic, I intend to stop by the church and make a cash donation in person later this week. It is very, very sad and we should pray for the entire congregation who witnessed such a tragedy. Those children who were present included. Sad

We read about and watch this craziness in the world everyday and dismiss it because it has no impact on our lives but when it hits in our own back yard all of a sudden it becomes real. My biggest fear has always been that we would become desensitized to this type of behavior because it is thrown in our faces on the news every night. Like the war, when it first started we were all glued to our tv's watching the progression and now it has become a way of life. Sad, isn't it? You have to ask yourselves what has our society evolved into? Have we gone backwards instead of forwards? Are we less civilized than we were 20 years ago? Or is it just that we no longer put mentally ill people into institutions but medicate them and they walk amongst us. It works as long as they are medicated but mentally ill people sometimes have a tendency not to take their medication and then all hell breaks loose. This is one of those sad state of affairs that there are no words to explain the impact it has on our lives. We can offer our condolences and best wishes but there is nothing we can do to make it better for the people whose lives have been changed forever in just a split second. Show love to the people you love when you see them because there is always the chance tomorrow you won't be able to.

Try http://www.desertpeace.blogspot.com and read about Blackwater. Very interesting. Even christians can be nuts.
Google killing in the name of Jesus and this site comes up but it is an older one and I can't cut and paste. The blogspot is the same but it talks about Blackwater. Don't know why when you put it in here a different sight comes up. Google what I told you to get the correct sight.
Man, what is wrong with you all? You guys missed the point of my post. We are not civilized to each other. We need to find peace, love and understanding. I personally think it starts with identifying the mentally ill, and it appears that a few of us here may qualify in need of help. If we continue to polarize, we are back to the pre-civil rights era. We need to take care of those in need of help, which will off set the cost of the jails (ok, that's the conservative coming out of me) and not have this "my way or the highway" type of thinking (that's the liberal in me). I am willing for my tax dollars to go towards a safer society for us all, than being gung-ho for having the best roads in the country. IMHO we need a different set of priorities.

To be fair, many people who think liberals are the cause of problems in this country have a good argument.

Wow! Read about AW in the news or in the news at 11:00. You are halfway agreeing with this nut job. How sad for you. "Thye have a good argument" for what? Carnage? Get over yourself pal. That dog aint huntin' at all with me. The statement above is almost a justification for this terrible incident, and you have offered zero sympathy for the church goers.

Liberal, illegal, a different race, female, male, or gay, NOBODY that disagrees with a POV should be shot, especially when they are in a place that should be the safest place in the world, free from your gun loving B.S.

Very well stated there Jacket. I was going to send AW a private message to tell him to go bark up the dead wood news site - THIS thread seems to have started with a sense of sympathy and concern about the people in Knoxville. I could give a rats azz what, who, why at this point. MY main concern are those people who have to deal with this tragedy first handed. AW, take your anger elsewhere. From here, I won't respond to jack-diddley that you comment on. You're like an annoying fly.
