"So please share with us the ANWR environmental impact statement that you obviously researched and published since you are CERTAIN it will adversely affect the environment there."

What a silly, silly thing to say.

"I am sure you have visited several times, tell us about all the wildlife and pretty trees there."

Google is your friend, AW. Look it up yourself. Pretty is in the eyes of the beholder, and you may be surprised to learn that not everyone shares your personal views on the subject.

"Your own party leaders thought that the saudis increasing their production by 500K barrels a day was significant, but ANWR producing 800-900K barrels a day wouldn't be?"

Well, happily for me, I don't slavishly follow party leaders. I form my conclusions from data. So it looks like you don't really have a point.
Good post, JM.
If we get an operating majority in the Senate, I expect to see legislation that will allow for new energy funding even if oil prices drop to zero.
"If you get an operating majority, I expect (blah, blah, blah)."

LOL! Great rant, AW! But you left off some stuff:

Obama has called for the return of communism to America, the confiscation of all personal property and the brainwashing of all children in the religion of atheistic evolution. He's also stated that he wants all male children born during his administration to be named "Fidel Osama" and all girls must be named "Nancy Pelowsi" and wear the chador on pain of death. All guns will be confiscated and given to "owlgore," the klingon messenger of global warming. John Kerry will be appointed Secretary of Appeasment, and will be sent to Pakistan to offer bin Ladin permanent residency status.
Well, you certainly got into the spirit of my wildly fictitious spoof on wingnut ODS, AW. Good job.

"He wants to outlaw assault weapons (as they define which is most all semi-autos and shotguns, and hunting rifles)"

LOL! Since Obama does not favor outlawing shotguns and hunting rifles, this follows the over-the-top tone of my parody well. Part of what makes this line effective as parody is that it captures the extremist technique of making outrageous statements that are easily and quickly falsified:

"Millions of hunters own and use guns each year. Millions more participate in a variety of shooting sports such as sporting clays, skeet, target and trap shooting that may not necessarily involve hunting. As a former constitutional law professor, Barack Obama believes the Second Amendment creates an individual right, and he greatly respects the constitutional rights of Americans to bear arms. He will protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport, and use guns for the purposes of hunting and target shooting. He also believes that the right is subject to reasonable and commonsense regulation."

from the Obama for America web site (http://www.barackobama.com)

"all handguns"

So does this! Good use of hyperbole!

"I have never favored an all-out ban on handguns."

~ Sen. Barack Obama
Democratic Philadelphia debate. April 16, 2008.

http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2008/04/...ebate.html

"and concealed carry."

More hyperbole! You have this technique down pat, AW!

In 2000 in Illinois, Obama co-sponsored a bill to limit handgun purchases to one per month (it did not pass). He voted against letting people violate local weapons bans in cases of self-defense, but also voted in 2004 to let retired police officers carry concealed handguns.

The Improbable Quest, by John K. Wilson, p.148 Oct 30, 2007
Home run, AW! Cutting and pasting from a gun-nut site is a great parody move!

"Please provide any cites where he voted in support of the 2nd Amendment."

Hilarious!! This is *exactly* the kind of empty rhetorical question the wingnuts ask! They know that the 2nd Amendment actually hasn't come up for a vote since, oh, the Constitutional Convention, but they count on a naive electorate to forget that little fact and assume that it comes up for votes frequently in Congress.

Keep up the great work! High comedy indeed!
"I see you didn't find any facts that you dispute - instead you go with the "wingnuts" insult."

You didn't offer anything worth disputing. Nobody who is alive today voted in support of the 2nd amendment, AW. Can you guess why?

Wait for it . . . .

...

....

Wait . . .

Yes! You got it! Because the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution--part of what is colloquially called "The Bill of Rights"--has not been up for a vote for over 200 years.

Yes! Your question was clearly a parody of wingnut rhetoric, because even a middle school kid knows that Obama could not possibly have voted for or against the 2nd Amendment, since he was born about 200 years too late.

Oh, and good job working in the kiddie reference to "owlgore" as a clever parody on the name of Al Gore. Nobody has ever tried that before! Novel touch! Very authentic!

Thanks for playing!
"Surely in all that thar learning you got you should recognize the difference between "voting for the 2nd amendment" and "voting in support of the 2nd amendment"."

No, I don't. Do please share with us your superior insights into this sublime, subtle semantic distinction, oh AW.

Heh.

"The bottom line is obama is the most anti-gun nominee in history."

That's your bottom line, AW. I can see how a gun-worshipper would consider that to be the "bottom line."

However, for most Americans, the bottom line is that America is headed in the wrong direction. In poll after poll, most Americans say that the bottom line issues that concern them most are the economy, ending the US military occupation of Iraq, and health care. Concern about the number of times the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution has come up for a vote doesn't show up on any line, top or bottom, in any polls I've read. My guess is that's because Congress hasn't voted on support of the 2nd Amendment for over 200 years. It is simply a non-issue for most Americans.
“Oh, and good job working in the kiddie reference to "owlgore" as a clever parody on the name of Al Gore. Nobody has ever tried that before! Novel touch! Very authentic! Thanks for playing!”

You have got to be kidding. ORHS73 are you as utterly dishonest in your personal life as you are intellectually dishonest on this forum? How quickly you point out to others their silly little parodies and sideways insults, but you continually us the same juvenile tactic. “Faux news” “St. Ronnie” “wingnut ODS“ “Bush/McCain administration” “gun-worshipper” All your words. Many pulled directly from this thread.

What right do you have to dress anyone down for doing exactly the same thing that you do? That is dishonest, immature and rude.

You have obviously been blessed with a good education, an excellent vocabulary and a quick wit. Unfortunately you chose to use your gifts to belittle and demean nearly every single member of this forum that dares to disagree with you. It is a crying shame that given your obvious talents, you are unable to make your points without demeaning or insulting your adversary.
I’m sure that you will want to slap back following this post. I certainly would never expect you to take any of my remarks to heart, but following your upcoming defense, I can’t imagine that I will have anything else to discuss with you until you can speak to people on this forum with some small amount of respect.
"ORHS73 are you as utterly dishonest in your personal life as you are intellectually dishonest on this forum? "

Why, 9BC, this looks very much like an abusive personal attack.

But let's talk about intellectual honesty. Over on the KGB thread, you posted:

"Really, where? Not in the link you posted 73. Not only was there no "outline" in the links article, there was no mention of the "Civilian National Security Force.""

In fact, there *is* an outline in the linked article and there *is* a mention of the civilian national security force. Is this your notion of "intellectual honesty?"

But I digress . . .

"What right do you have to dress anyone down for doing exactly the same thing that you do?"

I haven't dressed anyone down 9BC. You must have me confused with someone else.

"That is dishonest, immature and rude."

Heh. I don't think I can add anything to that little bit of projection, 9BC.

"I can’t imagine that I will have anything else to discuss with you until you can speak to people on this forum with some small amount of respect."

Oh my.
