For all who missed
the Turtles concert tonight at Secret City Fest, you missed a good one! Both the opening act and the headliners were easily worth the ticket price (each, not combined), and a good time was had by all.
Tomorrow night, it's
the Supremes. Anyone who thinks there's no night life in Oak Ridge, clearly hasn't been to the festival. Go! Enjoy!

It really is great fun! This is a weekend we make sure to be in town and participate. We are looking forward to more tomorrow.
JM,
We have other nightlife in Oak Ridge, in addition to the Secret City Festival(which was a hoot!), that occurs all year long. For instance, we have great plays at the Oak Ridge Playhouse. And we have a professional orchestra that provides incredible music, along with a chamber concert series. I would like to see more events like the Secret City Festival where the community comes out. We have such great people in this city.
There's also a lot of good music going on at the Lavendar Festival (Jackson Square) this weekend. Someone (the Arts Council, maybe?) did a test run of concerts in the park this Spring, which I'd like to see continue. We may never be as big as Sundown in the City, but there's no reason that we can't get something like that going and really show off some of the local talent around here.
Stuff like this weekend's events reminds me how blessed I am to live here.

The bluegrass music out there this morning was absolutely WONDERFUL!! Now that I've made my rounds at the SCF, I'm heading to the Ice Cream Laboratory, home for a nap, and then off to tonight's concert!! I'm hoping the weather continues to hold out!

The weather was perfect and the show was great tonight!
Thanks to all those who worked so hard pulling everything together this weekend! I was proud to be able to take my visiting MIL to enjoy many of the festivities. She was thoroughly entertained and impressed as were the rest of us!
It was a fun weekend in Oak Ridge! The SCF was a hit and the concerts were fun. There was great music at the Lavender Festival and large crowds to boot. Oak Ridge does need to have more community events to brings us all together!!!
We will have another opportunity in just over a week with the 4th of July activities at Melton Lake. Bring your blankets and/or chairs and enjoy another fun community event.
I wonder if they can bring that beer truck to Melton Lake.....to support the arts...of course!!

Oohh, that sounds like a good idea! There will be a music stage as part of the 4th of July celebration, right? Or did I dream that?
It is my understanding that there will be music as well as some other surprises......I look forward to reading about all of the planned activities soon.
Arts Council folks........I really want to donate more money to the arts, so please see what you can do about getting that beer truck out there!!!!!
