I just read the Ellen Smith Letter to the Editor in the OR Observer and am curious......did Ellen not vote to change the zoning of the property in Commerce Park at the corner Scarboro Rd and Bethel Valley Road? How about her vote on the rezoning for the church? Or, were these before her time?

The property at the corner of Union Valley and Kerr Hollow are virtually useless as industrial property because powerlines/easements cover roughly 50% of the property. It would take a very specific/unique industry to occupy that site.....thats why it's been vacant since Remotec moved to Clinton. If her concern was that a hotel, hair salon or grocery store might move in next door, she could always ask for specific language to remove that possibility. Oh well, I guess i'll keep going to Solway for gas........as I'm on my way to Buzzard Gulch (Thanks NM!). Hopefully I can find a better job in Knoxville so I can afford my taxes in Oak Ridge!
Right....

I suppose her campaigning against the Crestpointe development was a vote for the health of the retail business community too.

It's this kind of anal retentive thinking that prevents a welcoming environment to new business. Spin it anyway you like Ms. Smith, what are you doing to recruit and welcome new sources of tax revenue? I mean besides protecting the business community from itself?
But don't worry, we have trees. Maybe they can endure the taxes. Save the trees, the h*** with the economy.
