I do not agree with all of Senator Kennedy's policies but I have always respected him for the way he represents his constituents...I have several friends who live near Boston...Most are about as opposite polictically from me as east is from west but my friends are Americans...[I guess this is why I also respect 73 and others]...My friends have spoken highly of Senator Kennedy and his unwavoring commitment to them... (Of course no one is perfect since he was a sponsor of NCLB, but hey)...

I do not condone all of his actions yet I do not condone all of my own actions Smile ...Nor could I ever support his stand on abortion but that is a different thread Rolleyes ... Today I was very saddened to hear about his diagnosis, stunned actually...As far as I am concerned he can get trounced in the next election (not going to happen) but he is an American and I give him his due tonight...I also ask you that pray to remember him tonight...

Thank you Senator Kennedy for your service...You are worthy of our thanks...
Senator Kennedy did me a personal favor in 1971 and I will forever be in his debt. He always did what he thought was right in politics and I was the benefactor of his good will when he did not have to take a stand.

There are not many days when he is not in my thoughts. Now more than ever...

I thought we were talking about health issues that are sad and deadly. Since we are talking about skeltons in a closet, ask the first lady, she probably would know.

Wonder how many days go by that he is not in the thoughts of Mary Jo Kopeckne's family? I can't believe that a murderer is the poster boy for the dems. But, I suppose Jeffrey Dahmer was a nice guy except for that eating disorder.

Try not to be such an A-Hole. You even give republicans a bad name.

As I said this is not only the dems. Ask the first lady. Pot, Kettle Black.
This discussion has gotten past stupity. Human compassion has gone by the roadside. I don't see Senator Kennedy as a dem right now but as a human being with a horrible disease. Oh, you might want to check out her college years, by the way.

What makes you think I am republican?

Point taken. You give idiots a bad name.

If this thread was about civility, you flunked. This was not a thread for debate but for empathy. If you don't have empathy for a person dying of cancer then you don't have civility. As usual, you must label people by political party except as people.
Askwhy, here is a suggestion. If you would like to post your personal opinions about Senator Kennedy...please start another thread. This thread was started because the Senator became ill and people wanted to express their concern. Your interjection of politics in this thread has been in very poor taste.
We are all about the free expression of ideas at Atomic City Talk, but civil members should consider others when posting and not simply pick at a scab because it is available.
