The Anderson County Karl Rove wannabee the CHUMP has approached two strong democrats to run for county mayor. He told them he would run their campaign and have so many people in the democratic primary he would sneak them in. What gives? Is the lord mayor not running or is the CHUMP hedging his bet? If the lord mayor looses (which is probable if he runs) then he can try to sneak in his candidate and guarantee his employment. What a snake!!! Make sure you know your candidate when getting involved in the county mayor's race. We will keep you informed as to who is NOT affiliated with the county trash, CHUMP.
He was the head of young democrats and very active in the democratic party until CHUMP and Arwood had a meeting with him and told him if he ran as a republican they would stack the democratic primary and split the party. At the same time the dishonorable Layton made the same move. The lord mayor then would have a worn out candidate come out of the democratic primary and he could defeat them in the general. The candidate was David Bolling Sr. They made sure the lord mayor had no primary on the republican side. Hard feelings amongst democrats during a hard fought primary split the party both financially and against each other for the general So you tell me, what would you call him?
There are some words we just can't say in polite company... so that question (what would you call him?) goes unanswered.
It has nothing to do with changing parties. It has everything to do with trading away any pretense of honesty and dignity for raw power; that's why we've ended up with the scandals we have during his two terms. He "owes" certain people for his elections, and he's
paying that debt with taxpayer funded positions and contracts.
Lynch was on the ballot as a Republican. I am a Republican. I did not vote for him, and it wasn't because he had been a Democrat previously. In recent years, I've realized that I can cross party lines and not be electrocuted in the voting booth. Furthermore, I've come to realize that in local elections, party affiliation doesn't amount to a hill of beans.
Anderson County deserves better. Republican, Democrat, or Martian -- I know that we can do better.
Why are you talking about Mr. Beauchamp? He's not a political consultant, he's just a county employee.
I am not sure he is a county employee. He is being paid by the county but you have to report daily and work to be an employee. As far as the CHUMP being a consultant, he still thinks he is evidentally if he is playing these games again.
Netmom:
I agree 100%. To vote party lines with the amount of corruption in goverment is insane. It is the responsibility of the voter to weigh the qualifications of the candidates and vote for the most responsible person. The problem with most voters is they feel it is important to put their party in office instead of the proper person. That could be part of the reason we are in the mess we are in both on a county, federal level.
Why do we need to change? Thanks to good leadership, taxes are lower than they used to be!
...taxes are lower than they used to be!
Is that a good thing?
Are your schools as good as you would like? Is crime low enough for you? There are many questions like these.
Economic development will be at a loss. Clinton will surpass the county. The school system for the county will deteriorate. Taxes will have to rise. The courthouse is a s*** hole that is in great need to repair and the bank building is worse because of the incompetance of this administration. The lord mayor will walk away and someone will have to undo the damage of the last 10 years of mismanagement. No, taxes have not gone up but at a painful cost to the county in services. No one likes for taxes to rise but sometimes in order to maintain services it is a necessity. I do think though there are other ways to run this county, maintain everything and not raise taxes if funding is used properly and there is someone capable to apply for the grants available. I would not put my trust in the CHUMP to do that.
Just 1 week ago I had the opportunity to be at a function with the county mayor as the guest speaker and to inform you, Taxpayer John, Mr. Lynch has mentioned raising taxes. It is coming! Also, if you have children, Anderson County school board is looking into increasing school lunches by 75 cents to pay for new equipment that could easily be paid out of the almost 1.5 million dollars they have in undesignated funds. Looks like the working class may get hit below the belt with taxes and increased school lunches.
I agree that there is more to running a government than what it costs. How does it interact with its constituents? Does it act honorably? Is it effective? Is is accessible? Is it responsive? Is is open? All of these could use improvement.
