Anybody have any good road biking routes they'd like to share? Currently riding Emory Valley to Melton Lake to Edgemoor to Pellissippi and then on to Bethel Valley to guardshack and back (about 21 miles)...
You're way ahead of me already, but you might check with Lou Rabinowitz, who's helping organize the big bike event in the Fall. He probably knows all the good ones.
many ride the "Neutron Autobahn" park at the turnpike West Gate, ride to I-40 and back.
Call Terry Felde 483-9827, she long distance rides everyday and knows all the routes.
Thanks, y'all! I tried going up East Dr. today and nearly died. Didn't realize it was uphill for what felt like a jillion miles. Ended up walking up the last part. It was a good workout, though! Plus it's a good way for me to familiarize myself w/the city.

Does it have a pretty good shoulder all the way? Don't like to ride on busy roads w/small shoulders - may as well just put a target on my back..
It's on the west end of town out near the country club. If you park at the west end guard shack, you can ride all the way to Lenoir City if you choose. Nice wide shoulder the entire way.......and a beautiful ride with varting degrees of hills to add some challenge.
The only problem......it sounds like you live on the east end if you have been riding Emory Valley. You make want to haul your bike to the west end, because it's not easy trying to ride over there from the east side.
Emile and Cowboy have it right -- head west on the Turnpike into Roane County. Once you pass Oklahoma the houses turn to dense trees and you have decent shoulder all the way (except at the narrow bridge about 1/2 mile west of Wisconsin Ave; it's a short bridge over a creek so not much of an issue). There is just one stoplight all the way to I-40 via Hwy 58, and you'll pass by K-25 and the Clinch River. Plus, there are no hills -- you stay in East Fork Valley all the way out. (My road bike is geared for flats, not hills -- I stalled trying to climb Wisconsin....)
