Today's Knoxville News Sentinel (here) reports that the adult sister of the victim was involved in helping Koons.
Should she also be charged and punished?
The "adult" sister was only 18. I think a 51 year old man in an authoritative position could exert undue influence on the sister - legally adult or not. She needs some counseling and direction.

Koons should rot in jail, though.
According to the article, Koons threatened the sister. She had a reasonable fear.

I don't understand the rush to judgement here.
What about charging the parents who turned custodial authority over to Koons?
Is there any evidence that the parents knew what was going on?
Who turns custodial authority of a 15 year old girl over to a 50 year old single male who is a teacher? I read between the lines and know the players. If a child has alcohol and drug problems put them in rehab not turn her over to a teacher. What qualifies him to treat these types of problems?
He is a predator. They usually have unique skills in taking advantage in situations such as this. What a mess, and I will give some good odds that at most, he will serve no longer than Bubba, and quite possibly less.
I don't know, PI. We raised a daughter without feeling we had to turn over custody. But I'm not ready to judge others who are less fortunate than we are. Are you?
Who said they were less fortunate than you? Stupid, and trash, yes but less fortunate I doubt that. When you put your life on exhibit you leave yourself open to be judged. It's about choices.
KR:

I see where you are coming from, but these were adults who turned their child over according to the article. No one would have ever been able to manipulate us to give authority to anyone but us unless there was a credited facility to help our child.
