Water line work to close Oak Ridge roadway

OAK RIDGE - A road that intersects with Oak Ridge Turnpike will be closed Thursday so a water line can be relocated.

The Raccoon Road intersection with the turnpike will be shut down for that work, according to a news release.

It's part of a project to move 3,600 feet of water line that's now under part of the turnpike and install it on right of way, public works engineer Roger Flynn said.

The south end of Raccoon Road will remain open to access area businesses, the news release states.

So nice of the Knoxville paper to let us know, don't ya think?
Thanks Opus. Glad you picked up on that. By the time we hear about it we will be detoured.
I can't speak to why the Oak Ridger didn't run the announcement, but since the Observer is delivered on Thursdays, my guess is that the press release didn't get to them in time to do any good.

Raccoon Road is only what, about 100 yards long? Shouldn't be too hard to get around the problem -- just enter from the Illinois Ave. end.
