Thank you for posting this Cracker! I received an email yesterday and have already voted for Jimmy. He is an upstanding young man, well deserving of this scholarship.
We still have time to vote. The winner will be announced on March 11.

I really enjoyed his essay and voted for him after reading it. What a neat story!
When I voted, it said we have until the 5th to vote. What a great kid!

Do we know how this turned out? Did our hometown boy win?

Also, I think I heard that there was a team from Oak Ridge High School competing in a building competition. Does anybody know about that?

No, the kid from NC won.

They had some early success (See Tuesday's People's Choice award) but did not place overall. However, I am really pleased that this segment of our schools is doing so well!

It seems like Jimmy Bouchard keeps placing in contests. Congratulations Jimmy!
Kudos to the students who won at the Southern Appalachian Science and Engineering Fair held over at UTK!

I've helped judge this competition (in the past), and believe me, it's amazing what these kids can do, not to mention the enthusiasm, time, and effort they put into their projects. What is especially heartwarming (at least to me) is to hear how some of them want to continue their projects and research well beyond the science fair. Congratulations!
