Hacienda Degollado opened quitely Wenesday at the old Jalisco location. Major changes on the interior. Looks really good. Several of the menu items are not the norm for the typical Mexican restaurant. Higher end, higher quality and a price that matches. We've eaten there twice this week. Still waiting on their liquor license. Cervezas only for now.
We noticed last night that the parking lot had several cars, and the place appeared to be open. I miss Jalisco, but look forward to trying out the new one -- especially with a good review in hand.
I wonder how many of the workers in these Mex places are here legally.. It would be interesting to know.
Ate there last night, and both of us enjoyed our meals. Don't know if our server was here legally, but he spoke darn good English Tongue

Packrat -

Would you mind asking them and then letting us know what they say?

Trina sorry but i won't be going there,,, you'll have to ask them yourself... I know you don't care.

Why is that? You don't like Mexican food...or you don't like Mexicans?
I suggest that you try the Chinese restaurant next to the Mexican place on the turnpike. Oh wait..those folks may be here illegally too. Never mind.
Try Olive Garden over in Knoxville sport...nothing ethnic about that joint.
Daco if you had a brain it would be lonesome.
But i don't want to bicker with you. Illegals are illegal, i said nothing about any nationality You did. I asked a simple question,,,, i am beginning to think more and more that Oak Ridge is a sanctuary city... But then, that is just my opinion, like everyone else we each have at least one don't we. Read into that anythign you can.
This subject poses an interesting moral and social issue to me: which is worse, buying a shirt from wal-mart that was sewn or dyed by child laborers in a third world country (by people eeking out a mere existence) that was shipped here and gobbled up by US consumers or US consumers who gobble up ethnic food prepared by illegals who came here to try to create a better life for their children?
Molly,

It’s real simple. When you shop, do so only in Oak Ridge to support the local tax base. Make sure that all of the foods and products are American made (including all parts and labor) and haven’t been exposed to pesticides, are biodegradable and contain no animal products. They should also not have been tested on animals or humans and should not come from a company that has any ties to politicians, lobbyists, or a foreign government.

Oh, and buy only from stores that donate some of their proceeds to the schools, the arts, and/or animal rights groups (preferably all at once).
