Thanks for putting the joy back into online conversation here in the 'Ridge. Just goes to show that griping doesn't change much, but action does.
ACTalker paid the $44 hosting costs for the first year, and set the thing up using open-source software. The three moderators do this simply for amusement, so there's no ongoing cost except the annual hosting.
Maybe we should set up a PayPal tip jar so that anyone who's willing can chip in to cover the hosting cost. The main thing is, there's no company behind it, and no one person in control of it. A true grassroots resource.
Speaking of which, when will the hosting costs be up for renewal ACTalker? I'm all for passing the hat to cover the costs.
In the vicinity of July 1, I think. I'll check into the logistics of the tip jar thing.
It probably would be cheaper for us to just send you money.
