Naturally, I realize that the US military invasion of Iraq was a mistake, and the current US military occupation of Iraq is a disaster. But being, by nature, an optimistic person, I've searched diligently for a silver lining.
I've finally found it.
One of the deplorable acts of the Clenis administration was "Don't ask, don't tell." Gays, who have been serving in the US military since its inception, would--under the Clenis doctrine--be allowed to continue to serve as long as they stayed in the closet. Oy, for dumb!
But the military in the Bush administration is so strapped for cannon fodder, they're willing to do what the Clenis couldn't: "Don't ask, tell anyway, it's ok."

The irony here is so thick, you don't need a knife to cut it; you can reach out and pluck it out of the air.
I love it!
