This is just another politically motivated exercise in making ourselves feel good. Let’s all go to a concert…that’ll fix the world. So tell me, how will all of these musical artists will be traveling to this concert? Walking? Riding their bicycles? Rickshaw? Little red wagons? Hell no! Most of these hypocrites will be traveling in large jet aircraft.
What exactly will be providing the power for the electrically enhanced musical instruments and amplifiers that these do gooders will be using to pump mega decibels into the crowd and across the globe? You think Gilligan will be riding some pedal powered generator that the professor built? Hell no! These people will be using massive amounts of ConEd electricity to broadcast worldwide the message that you shouldn’t do as they do…only as they say.
Thanks Al. BTW, do Al and his family still farm tobacco? What killed more Americans last year…global warming or tobacco?

Ok doc, you're on!!!!
WTF?
I missed it. Is Al Gore putting on these concerts? Why is he to blame?
What does any of this have to do with tobacco? How do you compare tobacco use, which is voluntary, with the suffering caused by global warming, which will disproportionately affect people who don't generate more than their share of greenhouse gases?
Sounds like a little GDS (Gore Derangement Syndrome) is afflicting daco.
Heh! I love the smell of napalm in the evening.
Come on Doc. You know as well as I do that Mr. Gore is a partner in this effort. And yes he certainly is a hypocrite. He and his family still farm tobacco which, voluntarily or not, kills far more people on this planet than the latest heat wave fad.
How about he and his family offer to pay, instead of carbon credits, tobacco credits for the health care of foolish tobacco users.
"You know as well as I do that Mr. Gore is a partner in this effort."
Nope. I really haven't paid any attention to this story. What role, exactly, is Gore playing? Is he in a band? Is he funding it?
"And yes he certainly is a hypocrite. He and his family still farm tobacco which, voluntarily or not, kills far more people on this planet than the latest heat wave fad."
Heat waves are weather. Global warming is climate change. Only fools confuse the two.
I still have no idea what tobacco has to do with global warming. It is as logical to call Gore a hypocrite because he supports measures to prevent climate change and grows tobacco as it is to call Bush a hypocrite because he supported the overthrow of Saddam and drives a car. Far more humans have died from automobiles than Saddam ever killed. Both comparisons are stupid, of course, but they are equally stupid. The difference is that I wouldn't actually attempt to pass off the the Saddam::car comparison as logical.
"How about he and his family offer to pay, instead of carbon credits, tobacco credits for the health care of foolish tobacco users."
Well, that certainly makes about as much sense as the other blather you've posted on this thread.
ROFLMAO...
Good to see you again too doc.
"The difference is that I wouldn't actually attempt to pass off the the Saddam::car comparison as logical."
Funny though...you are the one that brought it up.
OK, so heres what I know about it:
Yes, Joel, Gore's throwing the concert. Its like a series of 7 or something, in various places in the world, and his name is prominently attached to them.
Which amuses me, in a way, that Snoop Dogg and bands like that are playing a concert that Al Gore, of the PMRC fame, is throwing. Odd.
But yes, I agree with Daco's general thing, until he went into the typical right wing speaking points about Gore and whatnot, that throwing a concert, a huge, messy, energy wasting concert to publicize global warming (which already gets a lot of PR) is silly.
Whats sillier, tho, is that Bob Geldof of Live Aid, is saying its stupid to throw a benefit concert for global warming.
