According to http://www.tennessean.com and http://www.wbir.com we have been selected as the most corrupt state in the nation. Wow.
When we are number one for corruption over the entire state, and I can guarantee you this county could lead the way, do you fight it or succumb to it? The windmills keep turning and the corruption continues. Do you become part of the problem or part of the solution?
Exactly where do you see the corruption? County Commission? County officials? School system? Court system? Give us some names and instances. Just saying corruption sounds too political, as in "we are clean as a hound's tooth, it's those other guys that are the crooks." Ya gotta do better than that, E.

I know it's an election year but come on.........
If you look at the source material from this story, they define the metrics of how they arrived at the "most corrupt" score.

Note that they're only looking at convictions; the fact that we've been pretty good at catching the corrupt ranks us higher than those who might actually have a bigger problem, but aren't as good at stopping it. The Tennessee Waltz convictions in the Legislature, the racketeering convictions from Cocke County's cockfighting and Greeneville's chop shops, folks like Judge Austin in Roane County, all added to our total.

It's nothing to be proud of, to be sure. On the other hand, I feel confident that these convictions go a long way toward making us less corrupt, not more so.
I think that it will be a hard case to prove that our state wide police forces are the most efficient in the country over the last decade.

There is also a geographical trend that the poorer SE states have higher overall crime. There just aren't any places I want to live at the bottom (less crime direction) of the list.
Another distinction for Tennessee - while we didn't get number 1, we are number 2:

In case you don't want to look at the URL, Tennessee has the second highest per capita credit card debt.
The TBI waters are boiling over right now in Nashville. They are starting with the A's after this report came out.
