The daily reports (under breaking news, so it will probably go away at midnight) that there was a "scuffle" amongst coaches:

Quote:
Jared Stephens put the icing on the cake, ripping off a 19-yard run to give the Ridgers a 35-21 win that was marred by a slight scuffle between coaching staffs after the game. Clinton fans, for some reason, tried to storm Blankenship Field after the game, despite losing, and that led to verbal exchanges between the respective coaching staffs.

Tank, can you elaborate?

I really didn't get to partake in this exchange, but from what I know now there could be a lot made out of what I consider a minor incident. Minor, because no kids were harmed in the making of this football game.

Now, I overheard an adult leading a large group of Clinton fans to the field say, "Let's go celebrate on their great Blankenship Field." That apparently turned into attempts to tear up the sod, and even a move to go for a goalpost. The OR coaches didn't like that, then the Clinton coaches didn't like the fact the OR coaches didn't like that and the "adults" got into a little "my football is bigger than your football" exchange.

I kinda like it, this game needed a little heat and while it's not going to be the poster-event for role models, it still adds a bit of "something" to this game in the near future. Plus, no kids were shoved, cursed, tackled, pistol-whipped or anything remotely close.
Glad to hear that the kids weren't involved, and thanks for the rest of the story. I've been hearing things all weekend (it was the topic of conversation among all the ladies in the hair salon Saturday morning, if you can believe such a thing), but didn't see anything beyond a lot of people swarming onto the field.

I hope it stays minor.
This is probably the most I will talk about it, to be honest. I didn't include it in Monday's report of the game, because it had nothing to do with a very good game between two teams. What happened afterward was just a few over-emotional adults getting a little carried away.

Everything should be fine, but like you I have heard a thousand different stories about it and some of them have been rather juicy -- and incorrect.
No offense Tank, but if ( accent on IF) something did happen, aren't you as a reporter obligated to report it? Leaving out controversy might make some folks happy, but the truth should be reported...shouldn't it?
Some would, some wouldn't Daco. Personally, I won't. My job is to promote high school athletics and talk about the student-athletes that participate in them. Perhaps if there were police reports involved, actual fighting, and more than just some shoving, I would have.

This is simply a case of fans from both sides, taking something that appeared bad, adding a little poetic spice to it to make it appear worse than it was.

It's really a personal decision by me to not add fuel to the fire.
Oh okay, no problem. BTW, I think I still owe you a smokey dog or three.
Hmmm ... pretty sure it was three, hehe.
Heck, make it four, service charge and interest.

Well Snidely, Clinton (and Anderson County) probably feel about us the same way you feel about them. Ever wonder why? Probably not. It would take an open mind to do that.

I can think of 74-0 reasons.

Don't you mean 47-0?
