oh my gosh it sounds like the new teacher they hired at linden from anderson county last year.

Well, we now have a hearing officer. Netmom, who was the school attorney recommending? Did Fellner's attorney have any input into the appointing of the officer? What is the next step? Do they start depositions etc. or do we go directly to a hearing?
So the first step in the public lynching has been taken by the BOE. What a black day for our beloved school system.

Mrs. Fellner requested a hearing. The BOE selected a hearing officer, as is required by state law. The hearing officer selected is a retired Presiding Judge from the Court of Appeals, Middle TN District, who has solid credentials and no prior knowledge of anything that's been said or written about this case.

KR, you accuse the Board of initiating a "lynching." What, exactly, would you have done differently?

The School Board has handled this in the best manner they could. What I would question is the way the system has handled it. I feel that a proper investigation was not conducted. It was bias but then the proof will show if the allegations are true or not. In checking I think she is tenured. It is my understanding that once that vote is taken it is granted whether she starts work or not. That will be for the Judge to rule on though.
That's a no-brainer NM. This should NEVER have reached this point. When Bailey first suspended the teacher, 6 weeks after approving tenure and 2 weeks before the end of the school year, the BOE should have stepped in and insisted that a compromise be reached. Please don't tell me they could not have done this. Bailey reports to the BOE. This situation would NEVER have occurred under Bob Smallridge. It would have been resolved quietly and diplomatically.

You are an independent thinker and I respect that. I will always believe that this entire situation could have been avoided. Now the teacher's career has been smashed and our school system has taken a BIG hit. And all because Bailey had to have it HIS way.

That's just the way I see it.
Rider, while I couldn't agree more with you concerning Bailey's actions, don't kid yourself about Smallridge.Yes. he handled situations quietly, sometimes a little too quietly where Monty was concerned. Even though the allegations against him came to light within Bailey's time, there were plenty of other "incidents" during Smallridge's day when they merely slapped his wrist and turned him loose. By the way, have you ever looked to see whose license has been flagged and whose are clear of any marks? It would be a shame for Mrs. Fellner to lose hers and His remains intact don't you agree?
Remember where Koons is concerned you are who you hang with and some of his best friends are his accusers now. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
I've heard another side to it and the friendship was more of a "growing up in Oak Ridge" kind of thing.Regardless. even if my childhood best friend did something like that, I would be putting the hurt on them. There wouldn't be a need for a lawsuit.
Do unto others and you would want done to you. Read into that whatever you want to.
