The new (goofy) law has been stuck down in court:
KnoxNews.com Wrote:NASHVILLE — A judge ruled Friday that a new law allowing handguns in Tennessee bars and restaurants is unconstitutional.

Chancellor Claudia Bonnyman said the law, enacted earlier this year over the veto of Gov. Phil Bredesen, is "fraught with ambiguity."

Finally someone with some sense.
Look for one of the first bills next session to be a "unabiguous" replacement without opt-out provisions. This was simply another Democrat trying to take away rights and undo the wishes of the people as expressed through the vast majority of their elected officials and accomplish in the courts what they can't in the legislature. Typical.

Why don't you like the American way of redressing grievances against the government? The judicial system is an equal branch with the legislature. It is designed to allow citizens a direct voice as to problematic laws and to protect them from an over stepping government. You only like less government when it doesn't get on your pet projects. Other people see it otherwise. They carried the day with their argument. It will be appealed you have several shots to get what you want.

Vague laws are not constitutional, never have been, never will be.

BTW, I was taught as a young child that you win with class and lose with class. I have yet to see you exhibit either.
With unemployment at it's highest, jobs going out the window, reforms to Tennessee First and a shortfall in the budget by all means make this one of the legislatures first concerns. Kind of shows the mentality of this legislature. Sad isn't it? It might be more important to get their priorities in order.
Here's another take on the issue that I hadn't really thought of.
We surely don't need to do anything to lose tax dollars.

Of course liberals love to have liberal appointed judges to overturn legislation and thwart the will of the people - that is the only way they can succeed.

Why are you against the legislative process? Don't you believe in our system of government?

Of course the more important evidence is where are all the incidents of shootings by carry permit holders in restaurants and parks where they have been carrying since July? This whole topic is much ado about nothing by the side who is ruled by emotion and lack of logic. Other states have similar laws and have experienced no problems, yet you guys seem to think you are somehow smarter even though you have no evidence to back your contentions?

And please post all those incidents since July when people have been legally carrying in restaurants and parks?

Not for Netmom to prove. She just linked to an article in the Tennessean. You might want to call Butch Spyridon and ask him. I am sure he just made that up to p*** you off. I am sure he has the facts and would be glad to share them with you. I am tired of my legislatures wasting the time in session for this garbage. Start dealing with the issues this state is facing. But then, this new group seems to be more concerned with guns than the serious issues at hand. Could it be their inability to solve the problems we are facing and this is a way to avoid them?
This particular issue is just the legislature doing the will of the people. I was simply noting that the opposition on this issue doesn't have facts on their side. Since they never can produce any problems with our history since the law was changed, apparently it is because there haven't been any problems which is the case all the other states have seen with their similar laws. We have too many nanny-state advocates who want to control everyone.
